SHOULD SPIRITUALISM be a part of school curriculum? This question holds a great relevance in today’s times. This question can also kick a storm. The self proclaimed secularists will certainly beat their chest against it. They would shout from the roof tops that this should not happen. Let’s take a peek into the past. The princes along with the common students went to an ‘ashram’ or ‘gurukuls’ to get education. Their curriculum included the reading and understanding of texts, scriptures, Vedas, Upanishads etc. then they were given training in weapons and warfare.

But the one aspect that drew all attention was spiritualism. The students irrespective of their caste or creed were given lessons in spiritualism. They were taught how to meditate and how they can make a divine connection. Today, the times have changed, the curriculum has changed and spiritualism has found its way out. Why did this happen in the first place. Spiritualism is something that awakens our senses and make us feel strong from our very within. We develop a healthy interior and feel enlightened. Lord Buddha sat under the Bo tree and got enlightened.

Thereafter, he went out to change the world. This can happen to all of us if some divine rules are followed. Spiritualism helps us to keep away from our fears and excessive emotions. It soothes our mind, body and soul and still it’s practitioner can go and enjoy the pleasures of the world. It certainly helps us stay from grief, sorrow , lamentations and pain and we feel ourselves at ease. It has multiple benefits then why it shouldn’t be added to the school curriculum so that our future generations can reap rich benefits.
